Söğüt Atilla

Söğüt Atilla is a DPhil in Law candidate at the University of Oxford. Her research focuses on understanding imitation practices in the history of art and identifying appropriate mechanisms that copyright law should provide to address artists’ imitative practices, without unjustifiably interfering with their rights and interests in protecting their creative endeavours or unnecessarily limiting the public’s freedom of artistic expression. She is also passionate about trade mark law, fashion law, art law, and copyright law issues arising from the generative AI technology. Söğüt completed the MJur at the University of Oxford and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from Bilkent University. She is a lecturer at the Fashion Law Institute, İstanbul, and has worked as an associate tutor at the University of Warwick. Söğüt is the author of the academic article “Dealing with AI-generated works: lessons from the CDPA section 9(3)”, published by the Journal of Intellectual Property Law & Practice.
